Five Goals!

Hey guys!

I’m going to interrupt the regularly scheduled programming of five friday faves for FIVE FRIDAY GOALS! Since it’s a new month, I’m doing what a lot of bloggers did yesterday, setting goals for myself for the month. I’ve been lamely attempting to address some of my faults, but this month I want to pick 5 and stick to changing them.

SO, here we go!

1. Stop eating out of containers. THIS IS MY WORST HABIT. Whether it’s nut butter, yogurt, cottage cheese.. I always just end up taking little spoonfuls of it throughout the day. I’m also really bad with nuts and chips. It srsly needs to stop. Instead of realizing, “I’m hungry” and grabbing the closest thing to me (usually my beloved PB jar) and GOING AT IT, I want to smartly decide what I want and not eat it out of the container. It’ll be tough. But I can do it.

..Maybe I'll turn into a hamster if I eat too much PB from the jar. That's a drawback, right?

2. Read two books for fun. I have been wanting to read Room and The Help since the summer. Seriously. At college, it’s so hard to find time to read, but I’ll be going home soon and I can defs get through them, I believe.

3. Be on time a little bit more. I have a horrible habit of being late to everything (except my 9am class, in which case I’m an hour early). My mom’s the same way, and I don’t want to be known as “the late one” forever.

That's a cool clock. Maybe if I had one of those, I'd look at it more and realize I was gonna be late.

4. Spend more time with my friends. When I’m stressed, I turn into a legit hermit and hide in my room/our science center. This week, I realized I hadn’t seen one of my suitemates WHO LIVES ACROSS THE HALL for two and a half weeks (only one of which I was on break for). Ummm, that’s ridiculous. But, when I get busy, I convince myself the world is ending, leave my room at 6AM, and then don’t come back until 9PM.

5. Be more decisive. I mainly mean this in a sense of what I’m going to do at the gym, but ideally decisiveness will spread to my life. Why? Because I’m the most indecisive person ever. It takes me 30 min to decide when to eat lunch. Problem.

So there ya go! This is what I’ll be working on this month. Some things will be a real challenge (not eating out of containers..), while I think others will be completely easy as long as I plan ahead (being on time and spending time with friends).

Even though I didn’t do Friday Faves, it’s still FASHION FRIDAY! This is actually my outfit from yesterday, because I forgot to take a picture today. BUT, I like this outfit better anyways.


I really like that purple sweater.. Can you tell? Also, that is my fav red hat!!

And, I leave you with an interesting fact. I almost fell off the treadmill this morning while sprinting. I tripped over my own feet. Treadmills are dangerous things, guys. BEWARE.

Wait, I lied. I actually leave you with my first attempt at not eating out of a container. Instead of nomming on PB, I made myself a fudge-topped rice cake for my dessert. Yes, a bit of a pathetic dessert, but I have food allergies and making this was easier than baking. And it was deeeelish.

A delish way to start out achieving my goals..

Happy November!

Hello friends! Happy November!

I cannot believe it’s already November. Can you?? My October ended really awesomely, though! As you all know, I had a pretty busy weekend, with a horse show, and an exam on Monday. So, I was MIA! Sorry! Now I’m back to my regularly scheduled programming.

If you were wondering (and even if you weren’t), the horse show was AWESOME! I did 6 classes with the horse I ride in lessons (who I absolutely looooove), and we did really awesome!


We got 3 firsts, 1 second, 2 thirds, and we were the CHAMPIONS of our division! I was so proud of him. We fell apart a little in the middle of the show (hence the thirds), but we recovered to bring it home (with the 2nd and one of the 1sts). I had a great day bonding with the horse I was riding, who I’m completely in love with and SERIOUSLY want to buy. My equestrian team even bonded a little, which was nice, because we’re never all in the same place at the same time! Equestrian is a weird sport, where even if you’re on a team, you’re competing against each other kind of.. I guess it’s the same with running, but I feel like equestrians are WAY more cutthroat against their own team than runners. Luckily, none of that happened at the show! Everyone enjoyed themselves, and we’re hoping to do another soon. Yay!!

This weekend, I also discovered the BEST OATMEAL RECIPE EVER. Seriously. I ate this thinking “I am currently ingesting happiness”. Literally, I tasted happiness. Do you want to know what happy tastes like?

And the recipe!

Happiness Oats

1-2tsp chia seeds

1 cup almond milk

1/2 cup oats

2 tbsp peanut flour

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp salt

1 serving stevia (6 drops liquid for me!)

Optional: 1 tbsp nut butter

This recipe is SUPER easy to make. Put half the oats in a bowl, then the chia seeds, then the rest of the oats. Add the almond milk on top. Microwave for 1 min, mix, then microwave for 2 more. Let sit 1 min, then mix. Microwave for 1 more min if needed. Add in the rest of the ingredients.. Top with whatever.. And devour! NOMZ. Too good to be true. I want this ALL THE TIME now.

To finish off this post, I’ll show you my snack of the day!! Cottage cheese with cinnamon sugar and peanut butter. So good.

My Halloween was great, as was my weekend. I dressed up as Tiger Lily from Peter Pan and Pride of the Seven Deadly Sins. I’m SO looking forward to November. I get to go home for the first time since the semester started for Thanksgiving break, so I get to see all of my animals and my MOM! Also, November is closer to December, which is probably my favourite month. Why? Christmas (which means going to see my family in MN), my birthday, and being home for a month.

TGIFriday Faves!

Hey guys!

TGIF! Happy Friday! I’m so ready for the weekend. What does Friday mean? Friday faves! Good thing too, because I had no idea what to post on tonight. So, without further delay, here are my five friday faves:

1. Rundies. Umm.. These are too cute. I think I saw them on Tara’s blog, and fell in love. They’re totally gonna be on my Christmas/birthday list!!

2. Babycakes cupcake maker. First off, it’s pink. Second off, it makes cupcakes. FAST. Me likey. Again, Christmas/Birthday.

3. Halloween! It’s Halloween weekend. What am I being? Tonight, I was Tiger Lily from Peter Pan.. Tomorrow I’ll be Pride of the Seven Deadly Sins.

4. Pumpkin! I’m in the Halloween spirit and going crazy over the pumpkin baked goods. I need more cans ASAP!

5. Snow! This one is KINDA a lie. It snowed at my college yesterday, and quickly melted. I was surprisingly excited, even though I hate the cold, I do like snow. AND, snow means wearing warm things all of the time, instead of trying to pretend that it isn’t cold to hang onto that last bit of clothing freedom.

This snack of the day was on the go after working out and before going to a meeting. Cottage cheese, banana, and peanut butter. Simple but delicious! 🙂

Seven(ish) miles!

Hey guys,

Today, I SMASHED my personal distance record! Almost seven miles. 6.75 to be exact. Remember, I’ve only been seriously running (like, not only for rugby) for less than a year, so this is a huge milestone for me. Today wasn’t supposed to be a long run day, but yesterday’s long run (which was 4.4 miles, supposed to be 6) was ended early because of a stomach ache. So, I’m THRILLED that I was able to just keep going today. 🙂

My mileage put me at a great start to my day, which was AWESOME. Busy, but AWESOME. I’ve been super productive and actually have had free time to allow myself to do the things I want to (like read blogs and look at running gear and shop online) without having to feel guilty! I also think I’m going to manage to get a good night’s sleep, which should help me have an awesome day tomorrow too.

Chocolate chip microwave pumpkin oat cake, which was topped with PB

I’m feeling great! AND, it’s almost the weekenddddd! Yay!
