Happy Friday Faves!

Hello friends!

Happy Friday! It’s a happy friday for me because I’m now ONE WEEK into the semester. WAHOOO. Only.. A lot more weeks to go.

Guess what? I’m actually going out tonight and I’m excited. I got extremely disenchanted with going out last semester very early in the year, BUT it’s the beginning of a new semester. Mostly, last semester I had A LOT of class, A LOT of practice and horseback riding lessons, and NO time. Friday and Saturday nights gave me the time I wish I had during the week.

SO, I’m gonna have some fun tonight! I hope you will too!

BUT FIRST! Friday Faaaaves!

1. Sunbutter

I rediscovered this stuff like.. 5 seconds ago. And it’s still the best ever. Possibly my favourite of the butter food group? I could go through a jar of this in an hour, I’m sure.

2. My eskimo boots!

With all the snow and ice at school, I can’t believe I’ve managed to keep my feet toasty warm. But, my Sorel Joan of the Arctic Boots help me with that. SERIOUSLY, if you need winter boots, try these out!!

3. Smoked almonds from Target.

THESE ARE SO GOOD. I’ve been snacking on them all week. They’re not as smokey as salty, but still delish.

4. Cereal

I’ve been a cereal fiend in the dining hall lately. They’ve had gluten free rice chex and granola, both of which I’m obsessed with. I’ve seriously been going through cups of this stuff as snacks every day. SO GOOD and so easy. When the dining hall is barren for my dietary restrictions, I fall back on it.

It’s only four this week.. Because I’m having trouble thinking of a last one. WHOOPS. That’s what school does to ya. You have to think about rocks instead of blogging.

Friday the 13th Faves

Hey friends!

Like the new blog look? I feel stylin’.

It’s not completely done, but what ever is? This is it’s general final look though! I’m probably gonna add a few more pages, but who knows.

I had an urge to do Friday Faves because I’ve been missing them lately, so I have SO MANY faves racked away in my brain.

LET’S GET TO IT!

Five Friday the 13th Faves

1. Nike Training Club

The workouts are more challenging than my routines, which is awesome!

This app is AWESOME. It took forever and a day to download, but once I got it, I was hooked. Basically, it’s a collection of workouts that are meant to kick your butt. I like it for its “Get Focused” 15 minute workouts, but there are longer 30 and 45 minute cardio/strength ones. I loooove the ab workouts they have, because they HURT SO GOOD. Also, you get rewards for doing certain amounts of workouts! Yay positive enforcement!

2. Bones

This is my favourite show, and it came back with new episodes last night. SO GOOD. Who saw it?!

3. IM Healthy Crunchy Soynut Butter

Not exactly like peanut butter, or any other nut butter. But good!

This has been in my daily life a lot lately, because of my peanut allergy. I love it. (Along with lots of cashew and almond butter too!)

4. Ghiradelli Intense 72% Dark Chocolate

Can you marry chocolate..? I would marry this.

I love this stuff. SERIOUSLY. It has been a serious part of my life recently.. And makes THE BEST chocolate puddles on my oatmeal.

5. Dessert oatmeal!

Because my body has been asking for more carbs (more on this another time), I’ve been switching my protein-packed dessert for OATMEALY CARBS before bed! It’s helped a lot, and it’s delicious.

Five Friday Faves! (LAST of 2011!)

Hey guys!

It’s FRIIIIIDAY. Wahoo! Not like it matters for me, because I’m on break.. But whatever. The knowledge that it is in fact almost officially the weekend still gives me a little jumpstart to happiness for the day.

What does Friday mean? Friday means it’s time to talk about my FAAAAAAVES. Five of them, to be precise. Some days, coming up with five is an ambitious goal.. Some days, it’s wayyyy too little. It’s one of those days.

Probably because I’ve skipped Friday Faves twice in a row. Oh well. ONTO THEM!

1. Proper recovery.

Okay, so as a runner with a busy schedule at school, I often ignore recovery after runs as a priority. BAD. But, at home? I’m totally into recovery. The second I get home from a run, there is stretching, then slipping on my brand new compression sleeves.. And uggs.

Keepin’ it classy, you know.

Then? A giant bowl of oatmeal is made.

Yesterday’s oatmeal.. Vanilla with chocolate sauce? Nom.
Another recent oatmeal.. Gingerbread!

Afterwards, it’s chillaxin’ on the couch all day.. I’m really lazy when I’m not running.

2. Felix.

Obsessed. I know it’s weird.

He’s my new boyfriend. A Garmin Forerunner 450CX. I have a serious problem.

3. Cupcakes.

Gluten free chocolate cherry cupcakes.

So.. Yesterday, I wanted cupcakes. So.. Yesterday, I made cupcakes. So.. Yesterday, I ate cupcakes. Recipe soon!

Cupcake on greek yogurt. Latenight snack perfection!

4. Celestial Seasonings holiday tea.

I love the boxes. They’re so festive! 🙂

Now that it’s after Christmas, all of the delicious holiday tea is on sale. My favourite is Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride or Nutcracker Sweet. My mom got two boxes for 3 bucks the other day! What a steal.

5. Pea snacks.

My new love.

Okay, so I’m obsessed with wisabi peas. But, my mom’s friend introduced me to these Japanese pea snacks.. They’re delicious. I want them. I crave them. I need them. They’re crunchy, salty, and slightly peppery.. TO DIE FOR.

Now, I’m contemplating mixing them and wasabi peas for ultimate perfection.

Frigid Friday Faves!

Hey guys,

Last night it SNOWED! And it’s snowing as I type this. SO, I thought I’d give a theme to my Friday Faves.. Chilly winter weather and how I cope with it! LET’S GO!

Soo warm and cozy!

1. Underarmour Coldgear compression tights. I LOVE THESE. They’re seriously so great. I even wear them for nonrunning activities, as leggings when it’s cold out. They’re the best.

Uh. Thisissocute. I want this cat.

2. Warm hats! I have a league of hats that come in and out of my wardrobe. My favourite hat is one my grandma made me though, which is knitted and white. All of my hats are beanie-style.. Keeps my head warm and my hair in place! 🙂

I love oranges and have one or two a day. PLUS vitamin C pills. And the occasional grapefruit. Good news.. I won

3. Vitamin C. When it gets cold, I start needing more and more Vitamin C. It’s the only way I stay somewhat healthy over the winter!

BEST TEA EVERRRR

4. Stash tea. I love this tea. SO MUCH. My favourite is the black chai with milk and the moroccan mint. Seriously, the best tea ever. The other brands of tea I drink are Numi and Tazo, but Stash surpasses them a lot.

Deeelicious oatmeal! PB, vanilla protein powder, soymilk, and of course oatmeal.

5. Warm oatmeal. I don’t think this post would be complete without me expressing my intense love for oatmeal. This is my oatmeal this morning (a la dining hall, eaten in company of rocks), and I think I might have another bowl for dinner. Obsessed.

RUNNING UPDATE: I ran 4 miles this morning and my hip felt fine! I ran at an average 9:22 pace, which is SUPER fast for me (at least since I started running, where my miles were.. 12 min?). Slow as a turtle for most, but I’m working on it. I have always had exercise induced asthma, but the more I run, the better it gets. Also, I ran a full mile at a 9:00 pace, which is a big step too. Speed work is obviously REALLY helping me and I’m seeing speed gains so quickly! Yay!

What are your favourite ways to deal with the cold? How’s your Friday going? Are you as obsessed with oatmeal as I am?

Also.. I spent like 20 min in the gym this morning trying to take a picture of my outfit. Why? Because I’ve wanted to do Fashions of my Friday for a while but I always forget to take a picture. Wanna know what these pictures reveal? That I’m really awkward. Anyways, here’s what happens when I try to take a picture of my clothes.
